Both these Makita 3612BR/3608B Routers are very versatile hand held tools and are used to rout or hollow out an area in relatively hard materials such as wood, MDF, plastic or steel. 

They are used in conjunction with router cutters and are mainly used for fancy edges, moulding & beading, joint making, creating holes, patterns and making grooves in joinery projects.
